Totton Timber Purchasing Policy

Totton Timber Company does not directly Import timber or panel products from other countries. However, we are fully aware of the importance when purchasing to obtain timber or timber related products from sustainable sources.

In recognition of the importance of sustainable species our sources of procurement are from reputable Importers/Brokers whose suppliers operate with the laws of the country of origin.

To support our buying policy we have obtained from Importer/Brokers confirmation of their policy or copies of the registration certificates for which their suppliers are members. These copies available on request.

Totton Timber Company are not members of the Forest Stewardship Council (F.S.C.)therefore we are unable to offer a chain of custody. (We are now currently looking into becoming members).

We believe that we have established our trading position as a reputable company supplying quality products. This achievement is the result of working with suppliers whom have the same criteria for the environment as ourselves.

Forest Stewardship Council (F.S.C.) is not the only organisation for the sustainable products, there are other organisations such as the P.E.F.C. Pan European Forest Certification, whichever organisation/suppliers or alike join, our aim is to source timber responsibly in order to protect the future of forestry. It is in our interest to purchase from sustainable sources.

We are also members of the Timber Trade Federation whom for their part are informative of any new developments regarding sustainability issues.
